Fundraising review and strategy
With no Head of Fundraising in post at the time, CCH wanted a critical and objective view of its fundraising performance and an assessment of its potential to grow. The Chief Executive asked Simon to review the whole operation, including individuals at all levels, trusts and statutory, companies, community and events, legacies, trading and shops. Simon worked closely with the team to review the performance of each area and identify barriers to growth. His findings and key recommendations were summarised in a report which was discussed with the CEO and fundraising team. The report and outcomes of the discussions were then used to guide the development of a new fundraising strategy.
Following an away day and series of two-way meetings with each member of the team, Simon helped CCH produce an ambitious growth strategy aiming to double net income. As part of this process he also helped the charity recruit a new Head of Fundraising and ensured he was fully involved in the strategy’s development. Four years on, CCH had run a successful capital appeal, moved into a new state of the art building, and achieved its financial targets ahead of schedule.
Other support
Simon continued to support CCH after producing the strategy by mentoring the new Head of Fundraising, helping to select a new fundraising database, recruiting a Donor Marketing Manager, researching and writing the case for support.
What Cotswold Care Hospice said
Simon worked with Cotswold Care to create a strong fundraising strategy to help drive an ambitious programme of growth.
His vast strategic experience meant he was able to cut to the nub of the key issues and identify problems and solutions. The highly methodical approach gave us what we needed.
Perhaps his most valuable contribution was helping the hospice to believe in its fundraising again and advising on appointing the team to deliver the strategy.”
