Fundraising review and strategy

Bernstein Associates first worked with Hft in 2005 on a review of its fundraising. Liaising closely with the fundraising team to understand the issues, assess the performance of all activities and the staff managing them, Simon produced a review document with key recommendations. He was then asked to develop a five year fundraising strategy. The resulting plans and budgets, produced with the team, proposed doubling income. Simon successfully presented the strategy to the Board of Trustees and won their approval for significantly increased investment in voluntary fundraising.

Case for support

Simon interviewed staff, volunteers and trustees right across the charity to gain an in-depth understanding of its operations. He then drew up a motivating case for support on each area of Hft’s work complete with costings and wish lists for the future.

Mentoring

Simon helped to recruit to the new post of Donor Marketing Manager and then supported and coached her for 12 months. He has also mentored the Director of Fundraising.

Community fundraising

Bernstein Associates reviewed the declining performance of this activity and recommended ways of recruiting new volunteers and raising more money. The team also proposed a restructuring to ensure more effective management.
